Thaddeus “Thad” Tikiun is the new board chair of the Association of Village Council Presidents. During the second day of the 2019 AVCP Annual Convention, AVCP delegates chose him to replace outgoing chair Raymond Watson, who had finished his three-year term.
To be a board member, you must be both a tribal member and an elected official of that tribe. Tikiun serves as the secretary of the Orutsararmiut Native Council. He won by nine votes over Raymond Oney of Alakanuk and Fritz George of Akiachak.
