Bethel's 26th Annual Christmas Cookie Extravaganza raised thousands of dollars to help people throughout the region learn to swim. Hundreds of sweet treats sold in just 13 minutes, earning $3,677. Thirty-seven bakers, donating 200 pounds of cookies, fudge, and breads, made the event possible on Dec. 15 at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Fitness Center. The money goes to the YK Delta Lifesaver Endowment Fund to support swim programs and events at the fitness center.
