With a speaker now selected, the Alaska State House has assigned committee seats to its members five weeks into the session.
Democratic House District 38 Rep. Tiffany Zulkosky of Bethel is serving on three committees. She’s co-chairing the Health and Social Services Committee and serving as a member of both the the Education and Energy Committees. Outside the legislature, Zulkosky works as the Vice President of Communications for the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation.
The Alaska House re-elected Rep. Bryce Edgmon of Dillingham as House Speaker on Valentine’s Day after he changed his party affiliation from Democrat to undeclared. The election ended the longest deadlock in state history about who would be speaker.
With its leadership selected and committee seats assigned, the House can now begin formally dealing with legislation.
