Third graders in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Region are getting dictionaries courtesy of Donlin Gold.

This is the seventh year in a row that regional third graders have received personal dictionaries from the company.

Community Relations Coordinator Danny Twitchell says that the goal is to help them become “better writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and more resourceful learners.”

These are hardcover dictionaries; no internet or computer required.

Google, the free online research tool used by many, began in 1998; Wikipedia in 2001. But many village households still don't have much in the way of internet access.
