Last night, the Bethel City Council recognized election official Margaret “Tootsie” Guinn for her 40 years of service.

Bethel Mayor Fred Watson read aloud a proclamation in Guinn's honor.

“Now therefore the City of Bethel would like to recognize Tootsie’s dedication to this community and the democratic process, and thank her for the time she has given to protect and ensure our right to vote,” Mayor Watson read.

Bethel City Clerk Lori Strickler added that Guinn has been a lifeline for her every election season as a dependable and indispensable resource.

“Tootsie, thank you for all of your hard work. Thank you,” Strickler said, joined by a round of applause from both council and the gallery.

Council members followed suit, thanking Guinn for her 40 years of service. Guinn still serves as Precinct 1 Election Chair.
