Last Week, Platinum Went Four Days Without Power

The village of Platinum went four days without power last week due to a series of generator failures. Platinum Mayor Mark Moyle said that their main generator failed over Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 29.

The village's last backup generator failed early in the morning of May 30, causing the town to go powerless for four days straight. Due to their remote location, they were unable to get a Northern Lights technician, who is based in Anchorage, out to Goodnews Bay until Friday, June 2.

On June 2, Nate Malone, the Northern Lights technician, was able to get their main generator back up quickly. Mayor Moyle said that Platinum is now focused on getting the rest of the town's three backup generators up to working condition to avoid future power outages.
