The Kuskokwim 300’s second race of the season, The Holiday Classic, has been postponed for a second straight week. A weather forecast reaching negative 20 degrees Farenheit this weekend caused the delay. The 50-mile race is rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11.

The Kuskokwim 300 Race Committee is looking for Bethel residents who are willing to house mushers during the K300 race weekend. The K300 mushers have stayed with Bethel families for the 41-year history of the race. Hosts are asked to provide sleeping space for one musher and one handler along with a small amount of yard space for a dog team. In exchange, the host makes a personal connection with a musher, helps out the race, and receives complimentary tickets to the K300 banquet. If interested, call K300 Race Manager Paul Basile at 907-545-3300. The K300 Race is Jan. 17-19 in Bethel.
