Fifth week of 2019: The Ice Road Melteth?

Despite ice road plowing efforts stretching from Bethel past Kalskag and on to Aniak this week, an extended warming period warrants extreme caution when traveling on the lower Kuskokwim until river ice strengthens. We have invited Bethel Search and Rescue to keep us informed with the latest information this week.

Monday:  We checked in with John John's KuC Corner. Future show notes will include KuC Corner details.

Tuesday:  We just listened to music together.

Tim Samuelson and Mark Leary gave us an update on recent efforts on trail breaking the ice road on the Kuskokwim. They just spent five days getting as far upriver as Aniak ahead of villages still due to do some grading. Search and Rescue groups still caution travel on strengthening ice. Considerate travelers will wait to let it further solidify, and for graders to smooth roughed trail.
