George Manutoli and Jason Pavila are the first mushers to reach Tuluksak in the 2019 Bogus Creek 150. Manutoli arrived at 8:48 p.m., with Pavila only a minute behind.
The two posted fast runs on the cold 50-mile trail into Tuluksak and left within three minutes of reaching the checkpoint. Cameron Jackson was third into the checkpoint, shortly after 9:00 p.m. Robert Larson was the fourth musher to reach Tuluksak, followed by Fr. Alexander Larson.
The field of eight teams left Bethel at 5:00 p.m. on Friday to run about 75 miles from Bethel to Bogus Creek, where they will take a mandatory four-hour break before racing through the night back to Bethel. They are competing for a $60,000 purse, topped by first place winnings of $8,775.
