Fireworks Banned In Bethel

If you are looking to light up the already sunlit sky for the Fourth of July, you are out of luck. Alaska officials have banned using and selling fireworks because hot, dry conditions throughout the state have made the risk of fires too great.

Alaska has been put on high fire alert. Two big wildfires broke out on the Kenai Peninsula and near Fairbanks last month, and are still burning.

The state Department of Natural Resources says that 102 fires are currently burning uncontained in Alaska.
