At the basketball tournament in Delta Junction, Bethel’s Warrior boys are celebrating, but the ladies… not so much.
The Bethel boys and ladies’ basketball teams went up against Fairbanks' Hutchinson High School Hawks on Thursday, January 17. The Bethel boys won, but the ladies lost in the first day of the weekend tournament. The margin in both games was just four points.
The Warriors won against the Hutchison Hawks by a score of 79 to 74. Bethel’s boys will face Unalaska at noon on Friday, January 18. You can listen to the game on live.kdh.fm.
Thursday's outcome was tougher for the Lady Warriors. At the final buzzer, they lost to the Hutchinson Hawks by a score of 39 to 43. The Lady Warriors started out strong. Coach Eric Jung says that Bethel went into halftime with a nine-point lead, but Hutchinson chopped away at it in the second half. The Fairbanks team ended the game with a four-point lead.
