City Will Not Protest Kusko Kush License Renewal

Bethel marijuana store Kusko Kush got some good news from Bethel City Council last night. The council decided not to challenge the store’s license renewal, which is going before the Alaska Marijuana Control Board. Bethel has two marijuana stores, located across the street from one another.

Kusko Kush, owned by Naim Shabani and Jared Karr, had a rocky start when the business leased city property for the store, only to have the city say that they did not know that the owners planned to open a marijuana operation. The dispute was resolved when the city sold the land to Kusko Kush’s owners. Since Shabani and Karr opened the store, there have been no complaints from the community about the business.
