City Of Bethel Elections Are Tuesday, Oct. 1

City of Bethel

Bethel municipal elections are this Tuesday, Oct. 1. Residents will choose four Bethel City Council members from among six candidates. Voters will also cast ballots for three local option propositions.

Proposition 1 concerns restricting alcohol sales in Bethel under local option. Proposition 2 would decide the penalty for furnishing alcohol to someone under age 21 under local option if Proposition 1 were to pass. Proposition 3 deals with whether or not to restrict marijuana under local option.

Polls on election day will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voting locations will be at the Lower Kuskokwim School District Office boardroom and at the Bethel Cultural Center. Kusko Cab is providing free rides to and from the voting locations.

Yugtun translations of the ballot are available on the city's website. They’ll also be available at the voting booths on election day.

If you want to vote before election day, you can vote at the city clerk’s office Friday, Sept. 27 and Monday, Sept. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Correction: An earlier version of this story reported absentee voting at the city clerk's office was available Monday, Sept. 31. It is actually Monday, Sept. 30.
