Caribou Traders may have new owners soon. The current management plans to buy the liquor store from UCI, a subsidiary of Hooper Bay’s Sea Lion Corporation.

The store will still be called Caribou Traders, according to Todd Perez, general manager of the store and shareholder of the new company, Marina Inc. Perez says that the only changes customers will see are a new refrigerated beer section and some security improvements.

Sea Lion Corporation said that their subsidiary, UCI, made the decision to sell Caribou Liquor on their own. UCI CEO David Cottrell was unavailable for comment.

The sale requires the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board’s approval of the liquor license transfer. There is also a 60-day period, during which the City of Bethel can protest the transfer.
