Bethel Voters Won't Decide On Local Marijuana Sales

Bethel City council voted against introducing an ordinance that would have given Bethel residents the choice to vote on prohibiting marijuana sales in Bethel.

Council member Zach Fansler attempted to introduce the proposal but did not secure enough votes for its passage. It failed 3 - 2 with Fansler and Council Member Alisha Welsh in favor and Mayor Rick Robb, Vice Mayor Byron Maczynski and Council Member Nikki Hoffman against.

Now the legalization of the industry and the terms surrounding it will be left to the council.

The Bethel City Council meeting began at 6:40 p.m. with Council Members Albertson and Wise absent. The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.

Zach Fansler is a KYUK employee.
