A woman found lying in the snow outside of Bethel Thursday night died Friday in the hospital. Police are investigating the death of Sandra Frye, whose body is being transported for an autopsy.
Bethel Police received a report Thursday of two men trying to start a snow machine on the trail to Atmauthluak, a few miles outside of Bethel. They were told that a woman was seen lying in the snow nearby. Bethel Search and Rescue responded to the incident, and the two men and woman were transported to Bethel. Rushed by the Bethel Fire Department to the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation hospital, the woman, identified as Sandra Frye, died the next day. Frye's family has been notified.
