The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is expanding its COVID-19 testing in Bethel as cases grow more widespread in the regional hub.

Anyone can now get a free COVID-19 test without an appointment on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons from noon to 4 p.m. at the outdoor testing tent in the YKHC Administrative Building parking lot. Testing by appointment will continue Monday through Friday in the same location. To schedule a test, call 543-6949.

Free COVID-19 tests are also offered to every incoming passenger at the Bethel airport.

In a press release, YKHC said that with COVID-19 so widespread in Bethel, there are likely many undetected cases in the community.

YKHC urges everyone to practice all known protective measures to slow the spread of the virus, especially by avoiding gatherings with people outside your immediate household.
