Bethel City Council unanimously rejected adding a new city position, which would have employed a half-time dogcatcher, half-time city code-enforcer.
“I do think this that is a position that is in great demand from the community,” said new council member Michelle DeWitt. “However, I think we are in a time when we really need to look at sustainability, and I would support revisiting this again in FY21 budget talks.”
Other council members also supported weighing the position against other needs during the city’s normal budgeting process.
