Six candidates have registered to run for Bethel City Council. The deadline to file for the four open seats on the Council was 4 p.m. on Monday. Any names submitted after the deadline will be write-in candidates.

The candidates who filed to run are: Carole Jung Jordan, Fritz T. Charles, Anny Cochrane, Perry Barr, Shadi Rabi, and Fred Watson, who is currently serving as Bethel’s vice mayor.

Candidates must be 18-years old, a registered voter in Alaska, and have lived in Bethel for one year before filing to run. The candidates are running for three two-year seats and the single one-year seat. Municipal elections are on October 2.
