Elle is a first year Jesuit Volunteer and the Wellness Programming Producer at KYUK. Originally from North Jersey, Elle is a recent graduate of La Salle University in Philadelphia, where she studied communication with a concentration in mass media as well as biology. She is excited to serve with KYUK this year and to tell the stories of the people of the Y-K delta.

This week, Elena Aluksak from the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) joins us for a conversation on child safety. Aluksak and callers discuss what the responsibilities of caretakers are in keeping children safe with regards to Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Kuskokwim River Intertribal Fish Commission

Winter is coming, and before snow covers the trash scattered around Bethel, volunteers are mobilizing over the weekend of Oct. 10 to collect trash in subdivisions and parks across the city. The event, “Clean Up Before Freeze Up,” is a play on the annual “Clean Up Green Up” event where community members clean up litter after breakup. The event will take place from Oct. 9 to 11.

In this episode, Diane and Esther discuss the effects of aging, and how this may be compounded by the coronavirus pandemic. Esther also shares insights on how she uses gratitude to accept aging and to mitigate grief.
