Three Million Federal Dollars For Community Services Heading To YK Delta

Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Research and Analysis Section

More than $3 million in federal money is coming to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta in federal PILT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) funds. The funding is intended to offset the maintenance of road construction, public schools, public safety, and other community services on non-taxable federal lands.

About $1.8 million is going to the Bethel Census Area in the southern part of the Delta, and about $1.2 million is going to the Kusilvak Census Area in the northern part of the Delta.

Overall, about $30 million of federal PILT funding will be distributed statewide.

President Trump has proposed a federal budget that would cut PILT funding by around 15 percent next year.
