Thirteen YK Entrepreneurs Win Small Business Competition

Thirteen entrepreneurs from the Yukon-Kuskokwim region have received cash awards to help grow their businesses in this year’s Best in the West Small Business Competition.

Winning ideas include an online Alaska Native art dealership, arctic gardening, and a physical therapy and massage service.

The annual competition seeks to generate economic innovation in the YK Delta and is sponsored by businesses throughout Alaska. The Bethel Cultural Center along with the University of Alaska Kuskokwim Campus hosts the event. Prizes this year total $39,500.

The Cultural Center will host a reception for the winners on March 29 at 6:30 p.m.
