After much negotiation with the state's court system, the Bethel City Council renewed the lease for the Nora Guinn Justice Complex for 10 years.

The deal was approved unanimously after council went behind closed doors early in the meeting.

“I think this is a proud day in the City of Bethel that we can work with the state, and providing good leasing agreements with the state to provide them with courtroom space that both the city and the state needs to provide judicial services within the community and the Delta,” said council member Raymond "Thor" Williams when speaking about why he voted yes.

The city council's vote extended the state court system's current two-year lease for the courthouse to 10 years.
