Shageluk Man Accused Of Strangling Ex-Girlfriend

Jarrett Semone, age 27, is accused of attempting to strangle his ex-girlfriend last week.

A Shageluk man allegedly tried to strangle his ex-girlfriend last week.

On the night of February 1, Jarrett Semone, age 27, allegedly told his ex-girlfriend that they needed to talk. In an interview with State Trooper Anthony Wiles, the woman said that Semone went to her home and quickly became violent. She said that he pushed her through the bathroom door and kicked the door in two, then strangled her and hit her.

Shageluk Tribal Police Officer Chevie Roach confronted Semone about the alleged assault the next morning, but he says that Semone threatened to blow his head off. A $10,000 warrant was issued for Semone’s arrest, and State Trooper Anthony Wiles arrested him in Shageluk a few days later on February 5.

Semone was remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center and charged with four counts of assault in varying degrees. His next hearing is scheduled in Aniak for February 16.
