Salmon Ready For Pick Up At ADF&G Bethel Fish Bin

More salmon are now available at the Bethel fish bin, operated by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Fish from the Bethel Test Fishery have been deposited there since last week. Now, fish caught at the Bethel sonar site will also be added to the cache.

The salmon are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. They’re placed in the large, green bin with "ADFG" spray-painted on its side, located near Corina’s Groceries on Brown’s Slough.

Fish harvested from the sonar site will be deposited each night between 8:30 p.m and 9:30 p.m. Fish from the Bethel Test Fishery are unloaded a few hours after each high tide.

Between 10 and 60 fish are placed in the bin each day. The harvests help state managers determine the size and makeup of the salmon runs on the Kuskokwim River.
