The pictured Bethel area, including Housing, the Bethel schools, and Ptarmigan Street until about Owl Street, may not have water until the Ridgecrest water treatment plant is repaired.

The Bethel water treatment plant on Ridgecrest Drive began working again around 12:30 a.m. on Friday.

City Manager Peter Williams says that he doesn’t know the cause of the shutdown at this time.

He received a call about the issue 15 minutes after the city’s power turned back on, following a blackout around 10 p.m.

Williams says that this incident is at least the second time the Ridgecrest water treatment plant has not restarted following a power outage.

During the water plant shutdown, the area connected to the Bethel Heights main water line lost access to water. The line services Housing, the Bethel schools, and Ptarmigan Street until about Owl Street.
