Renfro's Alaskan Adventures has released further details about this weeks mid-air plane collision that killed five people.

Wade Renfro, owner of Renfro's Alaskan Adventures, said in a statement Friday that two of his aircraft left Bethel Wednesday morning to drop off guides and gear in separate locations north of Bethel. He was flying one of the planes. Around the same time a Hageland plane was leaving Bethel to Russian Mission and from there heading to Marshall.

Sometime before 11 a.m., and after 9:50 a.m., the Hageland plane and the Renfro’s plane that Mr. Refro wasn’t in collided.

When Renfro learned that the other plane had not reached its destination, he flew to its last GPS coordinates. There he found the wreckage of the aircraft near Russian Mission, which he reported to his base back in Bethel. Renfro employees called for medical assistance. Mr. Renfro also found the second crashed plane after learning of a possible two-plane collision.

Is it still unclear what caused the two planes to collide.

The airline maintains that it has cooperated fully with FAA and NTSB during the investigation.

Mr. Renfro chose not to be interviewed for this story.
