Zach Fansler is the presumed winner of Tuesday’s House District 38 Democratic Primary, beating out incumbent Bob Herron. With only one precinct uncounted in the district, Fansler has received 56.7 percent, or 1,099 votes, compared to 43.3 percent, or 839 votes, for Herron.
Today is the first day since the primary that Fansler has agreed to media interviews. I talked with him this afternoon via phone from his hotel room in Anchorage where he’s visiting for the weekend to buy shoes, jeans, and do the usual bush shopping.
We talk about how Fansler won the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta’s support, stories from the campaign trail, and what he’s doing to gear up for the general election.
