The Calista Regional Native Corporation just announced its candidate endorsements for the upcoming November elections.

To get Calista’s backing, these candidates had to support the proposed Donlin Gold mine, be against a controversial salmon habitat ballot measure (Ballot Measure 1), and prioritize public safety and education funding.

Here is the list of candidates that Calista endorses:

For U.S. House of Representatives: Don Young, the incumbent Republican.

For Alaska Governor and Lieutenant Governor: incumbent Bill Walker, an Independent, and Byron Mallott, a Democrat.

For Alaska Senate District S: Lyman Hoffman, who is running unopposed.

For Alaska House District 39: Neal Foster, who is also running unopposed.

And for Alaska House District 38, Calista backs Darren Deacon. Deacon, a Republican from Upper Kalskag, is running against the current representative, Tiffany Zulkosky, a Democrat from Bethel.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6.
