Bethel City Council decided to postpone a vote on raising some of the maximum rates that cabs can charge for rides. The Bethel City Council wants more time to perfect the proposed increase on the maximum rates charged by taxi cabs.

The ordinance will come up again at the next meeting after it is retitled, and may include an increase of the cab permit tax. On Tuesday night, the Council reduced the proposed increase in the maximum fares that would be charged to seniors. The rest of the proposal would allow a dollar increase in rates to the airport and Tundra Ridge. The maximum rate charged for rides to Kasayuli would increase by $2.
