Bethel Finishes In Second Place At Final Regular Season Tournament

Over the weekend, the Bethel Warriors placed second in the Glenallen Invitational Wrestling Tournament, which is the last tournament of the regular season. Individual Warriors also received firsts and honors in their weight classes.

The Warriors placed second overall behind Glennallen High School, which scored 145.5 team points. Bethel came in second with 128.5 team points, scoring just one point above Houston, which came in third with 127.5 team points.

Hayden Lieb placed first in the 132-pound category with 24 individual points after defeating Glenallen wrestler Jared Virgin in triple overtime. Earlier this season, Virgin dealt Lieb his only defeat in 20 matches. Lieb was voted outstanding wrestler for the tournament.  

Jarious Allen placed first in the 106-pound category, scoring 22 individual points and defeating Eielson High School wrestler Deven Perez for first place by decision.

Seth Smith placed first in the 120-pound weight class with 21.5 individual points. He defeated Jeremy Briones of Bartlett High School by decision for first place.

The Warriors will compete in the regional tournament here in Bethel this weekend. After that, the top teams will head to Anchorage for the state tournament.
