Bethel City Council To Reconsider Avenues Water Project

Financing for the Avenues Piped Water and Sewer Project was approved. The above map shows where the water and sewer pipes will go.

Tonight the Bethel City Council will reconsider the Avenues piped water and sewer project to build lines from 3rd to 7th Avenue along Main Street.

The project failed in a tie vote at last month's meeting, but council member Fritz Charles, who was absent for that vote, filed a motion to put it back on Tuesday’s agenda. An option for the city to purchase six new water delivery trucks is also up for a vote.

The council will also honor the late Mary Pete, who most recently served as the Director of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Kuskokwim Campus. Pete passed away last month after a long battle with cancer.

Tune in to 640 AM starting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday for KYUK’s live broadcast of the Bethel City Council meeting from city hall.
