Anna Rose MacArthur is the KYUK News Director. She got her start reporting in Alaska at KNOM in Nome and then traveled South to report with KRTS in Marfa, Texas. Anna Rose soon missed rural Alaska and returned to the bush to join KYUK in September 2015. Anna Rose is a Transom Story Workshop graduate.

Bethel City Council unanimously passed an ordinance Tuesday to authorize reimbursements to Bethel property owners who the city overcharged on real estate taxes for more than a decade, following a typo in the city’s tax code.

Bethel City Council introduced an ordinance at Tuesday’s meeting to cap council meeting times. The proposal, introduced by Council Member Nikki Hoffman, would stop regularly scheduled meetings at 11:00 p.m. with the option to recess until the following day with a two-thirds majority vote.

Donlin Gold leaders are meeting with key entities along the Kuskokwim this week.

NOVAGOLD President and CEO Greg Lang, Barrick Executive Director Andy Cole, and Donlin Gold General Manager Stan Foo arrived in Bethel Monday to meet with community members and leaders on the proposed Donlin Gold mine.

The group, joined by partners and consultants, held a community forum to answer questions and present information on the project.
